Microphone & audio

Avette manages your input devices in Settings → Audio, so it always uses the mic you actually want — whether your laptop is docked or on the go.

Priority and auto-switch

Your input devices show up as a ranked list under Input Devices. Drag to set priority: Avette automatically uses the highest-priority device that’s currently available. Unplug your audio interface or studio display and Avette falls back to the next one — your MacBook mic, say — without interrupting you. Plug it back in and Avette returns to it.

That’s why Avette won’t randomly jump to your AirPods: you set the order once, and it respects it.

Hide inputs you never use

Macs accumulate virtual and rarely-used inputs — loopback devices, continuity mics, capture cards. Use the eye toggle next to a device to hide it, so it’s never picked and stays out of the list.

Level meter

The meter beside the list shows your live input level, so you can confirm Avette is hearing the right mic before you start.
